How to Develop a Successful Restaurant Marketing Strategy
Restaurant marketing is the way you promote your restaurant to bring in new customers and secure repeat business.

Your first step in developing your restaurant marketing strategy is to identify your target audience, or buyer persona. This is a subset of the general population who you hope to attract to your restaurant because their behaviors, preferences, and values align with your brand, mission, and vision.
Your buyers may be a single person, a group of people, or an entire demographic such as young sports fans or diners with children.
Once you have identified your buyer personas, create a profile for each that contains the following:

What does this individual enjoy eating and drinking? Do they have any food allergies or dietary restrictions that must be taken into consideration when designing your menu? What is it about your restaurant that this person does not like? What can you change to make the experience more positive for them? What are the key performance indicators (KPIs) that you use to measure the success of your marketing campaigns, including sales/revenue increase, number of loyalty/rewards program sign-ups, or social follower increase?
Reach out to your existing customers through email, social media, and direct mail to promote restaurant events and offers. Include a link to your website, where they can book online. Posting pictures of your dishes on Instagram is a great way to attract new customers. This works particularly well when you have a special or seasonal menu item. Using a hashtag such as #foodporn is an easy way to get your posts noticed by thousands, or even millions, of people.
Having your server ask your guests to leave a review is another restaurant marketing tactic that is simple and effective. Display the request in a prominent place such as near the mints, and provide a link or QR code to do so. Include a thank you for positive reviews and a polite and professional response to any negative ones.
Your traditional restaurant signage can still be effective. Putting up a sandwich board outside the restaurant, and using chalk or dry-erase boards inside the restaurant to announce daily specials, can be an inexpensive yet effective way to market your restaurant. In addition, distributing postcards featuring the same daily specials can also be an excellent restaurant marketing strategy.
